How did you get into radio?
After years of MCing live events, I got into FM radio through a friend, who got me a gig hosting the Sunday Morning Breakfast Show at Radio Today, where I stayed for a year. During this time, I did various voice over work and eventually was invited to host on an online station in the UK. I eventually started my own online station, Uncut Media in 2016 and ran that for 8 years, broadcasting worldwide. I was then invited to 919 Breakfast as a guest, and never left!
What do you love about working with 919?
I love waking Joburg up every morning with feel good music and great conversation. I enjoy the opportunities afforded to me to work with community projects, charities as well as being able to spotlight SA musicians and small business owners.
If we say Joburg, what comes to mind?
City of Gold. Best people, best vibes. The city that never sleeps.
Where are you based, and what’s the route you travel to get to the station?
Fourways. Down Winnie Mandela / Sandton Drive
What do you get up to when you’re not doing your show / working at 919?
That is a very long list! I own and run two entertainment companies. Riot Entertainment specialises in venue and corporate entertainment, whilst Alter Egos hosts some of JHB's most well-loved alternative events and festivals. I am a full time event organiser, professional MC voice-over artist and quizmaster and then I also coach horse-riding in my (limited) spare time.
Who are your favourite artists and genres?
I have something I love about nearly every genre, but I am a rock-chick at heart. I am also a huge advocate for our South African artists. In my top 5 (which is hard to narrow down), I would say Bon Jovi, Metallica, Jasper Dan, Ed Sheeran and Pink.
