Drone reassures stranded hiker on Table Mountain

A young hiker stranded on Table Mountain was reassured by a drone that help was on the way during an overnight rescue operation.
The hiker had become lost above Newlands and was trapped on a steep cliff as darkness fell.
A drone from the Western Cape Government Health and Wellness EMS helped locate him and used a speaker to send a reassuring message, letting him know that rescuers were on their way.
A rope team eventually abseiled nearly 200 metres to reach him, and he was safely brought off the mountain without injury.

The butchery is supplying fresh fruit, vegetables and other necessities to support the weekly feeding programme.
The church previously provided meals once a month and hopes to eventually feed people daily.
