Children across South Africa are set to benefit from new support for food programmes and maths education.
Rise Against Hunger and the South African Maths Foundation have received a combined R1 million, from the Government Employees Pension Fund, to strengthen their work with children and communities.
Rise Against Hunger will use the funding to provide food to Early Childhood Development centres.
The South African Maths Foundation will use its share to support maths education and give learners greater opportunities to build their skills.

Athletes Take On Charity Truck Challenge

Twenty strength athletes are preparing for a 1 650-kilometre truck-pulling challenge from Pretoria to Cape Town to raise funds for charity.
The Bigg Pull 2026, organised by Gentle Giant Promotions, will see the Power Team take on the journey over 41 days.
The team will leave the South African Air Force Base in Centurion on November 2 and is expected to reach Cape Town on December 12.
Tshwane mayor Nasiphi Moya’s spokesperson, Samkelo Mgobozi, says the challenge will raise funds to support several charitable organisations:

A community centre in a village, Limpopo, is using farming to support vulnerable children while creating jobs and producing food.
The Maphosa Drop-in Centre has created 17 permanent jobs and has been allocated five hectares of land to expand its vegetable production.
A partnership supported by the National Development Agency provided one-point-three million rand for irrigation, boreholes, water storage and other farming infrastructure.
The centre supports 68 children and is also helping households affected by food insecurity.
