Joburg to host Global Citizen NOW summit

Johannesburg has been announced the host city for first-ever Global Citizen NOW summit.
The summit will take place on November 21 at the Sandton Convention Centre, just a day before the G20 Summit, which is scheduled for November 22–23.
The event will bring together government leaders, private sector investors, and philanthropies from all over the world.
In a statement Global Citizen says the campaign seeks commitments to deliver clean energy access to 10 million households, noting that 4.6 million have already been pledged.
It added that discussions will target stronger health security, climate resilience and shared G20 priorities of solidarity, equality and sustainability to end extreme poverty and protect the planet.

Following International Children's Day on the 1st of November, non-profit organisation, Penny Appeal South Africa is urging citizens to help transform the lives of orphans.
The organisation is inviting individuals, families, and communities to support its Orphan Sponsorship and Breakfast Club programmes, which provide education, nourishment, and care to vulnerable children.
For just R40, supporters can sponsor a child and provide essentials like food, schooling, and healthcare.

Cape Town mayor Geordin Hill-Lewis says the City aims to be South Africa’s first to take over passenger rail following the tabling of a detailed Rail Business Plan.
The plan was presented to the Urban Mobility Portfolio Committee, with the City Council set to consider its adoption on 4-December.
