Digital Learning Centre Brings Coding and Robotics Skills to Hillbrow Learners

A new Digital Learning Centre has been opened at the BG Alexander Estate in Hillbrow, giving Grade 7 to 9 learners access to coding, robotics and digital skills training.
The facility, launched through a partnership involving Netstar, MES NPC and Jozi My Jozi, is aimed at equipping young people with future focused skills such as IT literacy, problem solving and robotics.
The centre is also open to nearby schools during the day, expanding access beyond registered learners.
Organisers say the initiative is designed to give children in the inner city a stronger foundation in technology and improve their long term opportunities in education and employment.

The project was supported by the Johannesburg Garden Club, which helped renovate the facility and donated age-appropriate books for learners aged six to 18. The centre says the upgraded space now has a structured collection and trained librarians to support reading development.
Centre manager Nare Manamela says the library will give children from Eldorado Park, Kliptown and Slovo Park better access to educational resources and opportunities to grow through learning.
