A new Digital Learning Centre has been opened at the BG Alexander Estate in Hillbrow, giving Grade 7 to 9 learners access to coding, robotics and digital skills training.
The facility, launched through a partnership involving Netstar, MES NPC and Jozi My Jozi, is aimed at equipping young people with future focused skills such as IT literacy, problem solving and robotics.
The centre is also open to nearby schools during the day, expanding access beyond registered learners.
Organisers say the initiative is designed to give children in the inner city a stronger foundation in technology and improve their long term opportunities in education and employment.

LifeFirst Emergency Response in Port Alfred is helping residents become better prepared for emergencies through training, disaster response and community support initiatives.
Founded by Wouna du Plessis, the organisation began by offering free CPR and first aid training and has since expanded to support volunteer firefighter development and assistance during floods and wildfires. Community fundraising efforts have also helped secure life-saving equipment, including a defibrillator and ventilator.
LifeFirst now operates a dedicated training centre and continues to equip residents with emergency response skills, while its latest campaign aims to raise funds for a 4x4 response vehicle to assist during emergencies.

The Masibambisane Centre has opened a new library in Eldorado Park, creating a dedicated space for children to read and learn.
The project was supported by the Johannesburg Garden Club, which helped renovate the facility and donated age-appropriate books for learners aged six to 18. The centre says the upgraded space now has a structured collection and trained librarians to support reading development.
Centre manager Nare Manamela says the library will give children from Eldorado Park, Kliptown and Slovo Park better access to educational resources and opportunities to grow through learning.
