Johannesburg will host several cultural events this June, offering residents a range of music, sport, and style experiences.The Johannesburg Philharmonic Orchestra performs every Thursday until 26 June at Linder Auditorium, Wits University. The series features acclaimed soloists and conductors presenting classical favourites. Yesterday the Johnnie Walker Blue Polo returned to the Inanda Club, blending the sport of polo with premium Scotch whisky, fashion, and fine dining against the Sandton skyline. Pantone Sundays takes place at Mamakashaka & Friends in Braamfontein. The event celebrates contemporary African style themed “Mocha Mousse,” the 2025 colour of the year.

Wits University welcomed over 400 top Grade 11 learners from 57 schools for the Wits Integrated Experience. This was to tackle Johannesburg’s water crisis under the theme Preventing Day Zero. Learners explored solutions across five faculties—Science, Engineering, Humanities, Health, and Commerce—while gaining exposure to university life. Vice-Chancellor Prof Zeblon Vilakazi encouraged their potential as future leaders. The programme concludes in July with team presentations and a graduation-style ceremony. The Market Theatre's Black Circus of the Republic of Bantu.

The Market Theatre will stage The Black Circus of the Republic of Bantu. This is a powerful performance by award-winning artist Albert Ibokwe Khoza and directed by Princess Zinzi Mhlongo. The show runs for a limited season from 13 to 29 June, with only eight weekend performances. Fresh from acclaimed international runs in Amsterdam, Liverpool, New York and Barcelona, the piece confronts the dark legacy of ethnological exhibitions and the historical objectification of Black bodies. Khoza’s powerful performance pushes audiences to think deeply while calling for healing and the reclaiming of Black identity and culture.
