Wits Integrated Experience

Wits University welcomed over 400 top Grade 11 learners from 57 schools for the Wits Integrated Experience. This was to tackleing Johannesburg’s water crisis under the theme Preventing Day Zero. Learners explored solutions across five faculties—Science, Engineering, Humanities, Health, and Commerce—while gaining exposure to university life. Vice-Chancellor Prof Zeblon Vilakazi encouraged their potential as future leaders. The programme concludes in July with team presentations and a graduation-style ceremony. The programme celebrates youth-driven innovation and addresses real-world challenges. SOUND

Cape Town Green Point Athletics Stadium Opens

The Green Point Athletics Stadium in Cape Town has opened its doors to the public, providing an ideal location for aspiring athletes, cyclists, and other sporting teams to train and refine their skills. The facility has received its World Athletics Class 2 certification, after recently undergoing some impressive refurbishments. The certification now means that the City of Cape Town will be able to host high-level local, national and international events at the stadium.

Springsteen and McCartney Duet

Bruce Springsteen fans got a special surprise when Sir Paul McCartney joined him for a duet at Liverpool's Anfield Stadium. The former Beatle was brought out on stage over the weekend during the 75-year-old singer's second gig in the city with his E Street Band as part of his Land of Hope and Dreams tour. Springsteen, a life-long Beatles fan, introduced Sir Paul to roaring crowds during his encore. The performance was Sir Paul's first in his hometown since his 2018 Freshen Up Show and also his first appearance on the Anfield stage since the city's celebration of the European Capital of Culture in 2008.
