Extreeme cold front expected across Gauteng

The South African Weather Service has issued an alert for freezing temperatures set to sweep through the country including parts of Gauteng from today.

The weather service is urging residents to brace for a sharp drop in temperatures in the next two days,
with some weather centres warning of the possibility of light snow this week.

The Johannesburg Emergency Services is encouraging residents to use all heating devices safely and not to leave them unattended to prevent fires.

An inclimant weather warning has also been issued for parts of the Free State, the Western Cape, Eastern Cape and Northern Cape.
