Benoni mother launches foundation for families of differently abled children

A Benoni mother has turned her family's journey into a source of support for others by launching the Bethany Foundation, a non profit organisation for families of differently abled children.
Founder Melanie Langerman started the initiative after her daughter Bethany was diagnosed with the rare Smith Magenis Syndrome following years of uncertainty.
The foundation will help families raise funds for specialist care, therapy and essential equipment, while also building a support network for parents through its Fearfully and Wonderfully Made group.

Second phase of Northern Cape water scheme set to boost jobs and water security

The second phase of the Vaal Gamagara Bulk Water Supply Scheme is moving ahead, with government and Northern Cape mining houses investing more than R15 billion over the next decade.
The project includes a new pipeline, upgraded pump stations, a reservoir and improvements to water treatment infrastructure to strengthen water supply for communities, mines and businesses around Kathu and surrounding areas.
The construction phase is also expected to create job opportunities while supporting future economic growth in the region. Deputy Minister of Water and Sanitation David Mahlobo recently visited the project to assess progress.

Matrics receive motivational boost ahead of final exams

Grade 12 learners at Destiny Independent School have been treated to a special lunch to recognise their hard work and keep them motivated as they prepare for their final examinations.
The initiative was organised in partnership with local food business Barons Kitchen to encourage learners to stay focused during one of the busiest periods of the school year.
The school says supporting and motivating learners throughout their matric year can help them stay on track and perform at their best in the final exams.
