Pretoria school recognised for Casual Day support

The Alma School in Pretoria has been recognised as one of South Africa's top supporters of the Casual Day campaign after consistently selling more than 10 000 tickets each year.
The recognition forms part of the National Council of and for Persons with Disabilities' 2025 Impact Report, which shows the annual fundraiser continues to support disability organisations through programmes that improve accessibility, education, employment and food security.
This year's Casual Day campaign will take place on 4 September under the theme Beat As One, Rhythm Matters.

Mpumalanga expands matric support through winter classes

More than 23 000 matric learners from underperforming schools across Mpumalanga are attending winter classes as the province works towards a 91 percent matric pass rate for the Class of 2026.
The Department of Education has allocated R60.7 million to learner performance improvement programmes, including the winter classes being held at 89 centres.
Experienced teachers are providing extra support in Mathematics, Physical Sciences, Accounting and Economics, while learners also receive transport and meals to help them prepare for the final examinations.

Alexandra ECD centres strengthen kitchen hygiene

have taken part in a hands on cooking and kitchen hygiene workshop aimed at improving food safety for young children.
Hosted by the Hope Academic and Skill Centre in partnership with the Alexandra ECD Association, the training covered safe food preparation, hygiene, food storage and balanced nutrition to help prevent foodborne illnesses.
Participating centres also received certificates and two plate gas stoves to help improve kitchen operations and support safer meal preparation.
