Virgin Active Ride Joburg set for 26 October 2025
Story 1
Africa's premier timed cycling race, Virgin Active Ride Joburg, has announced a strategic date change for its 2025 event.
The race will now take place on 26th of October instead of its original date of November 16.
The decision was made to avoid logistical conflicts with the G20 Summit which Johannesburg will host in mid-November.
The organisers say the original date would have posed significant challenges due to road closures and high-level security protocols.
The October event promises to deliver the same top-tier experience that cyclists expect, featuring 97km of fully closed roads, premium water points, enhanced safety and medical support, and a picturesque finish near the FNB Stadium Dome.
The new timing is expected to attract a stronger international field, with a substantial R200,000 prize for both the first male and female finishers.
