Brand SA CEO Neville Matjie says South Africans’ generosity shows the country’s spirit of Ubuntu, with a recent study naming South Africans the most generous people in the world.
The Remitly survey of 4,500 participants across 25 countries ranked South Africa first, followed by the Philippines and the United States.
South Africans contributed money, volunteered time, and supported their communities, actions that led to the top ranking.

The SPAR Proteas will kickstart 2026 with a SPAR Challenge three-test match series against Vitality Roses later this month at Ellis Park Indoor Arena in Johannesburg.
The last time South Africa faced England at home was back in 2023 during the Quad Series in Cape Town before facing them again during the Netball World Cup in the same year.
Head Coach Jenny van Dyk says players are hard at work preparing for this challenge and there are a few players that they are looking at that may be brought into the squad.

The event runs from 5-8 February, with charity events on the first two days and main events on the last two.
