Africa Sees Record Solar Growth in 2025
Teaser / Tailpiece story
Africa had a breakthrough year for solar energy in 2025, with installations rising 54%, the fastest growth the continent has ever seen, according to the Global Solar Council. Over half of this increase came from utility-scale projects, but households and businesses are also rapidly adopting solar solutions.
Sonia Dunlop, CEO of the GSC, says combining solar with storage is Africa’s path to expanding energy access, supporting sustainable development, and improving resilience to extreme weather events.
