Soweto Animal Rescue Celebrates Young Volunteers at Rangers Party
Story 1
The Soweto Animal Rescue and Advisory Centre (SARAC) hosted a special Rangers Party on 6 December, recognising the efforts of its young volunteers. The rangers dedicate their afternoons and free time to caring for animals still awaiting homes.
Community support helped make the event possible, with volunteers enjoying meals, treats, and entertainment from magicians and face painters. The top five rangers received new laptops, while others were given uniforms, stationery, and clothes to prepare them for the year ahead.
SARAC said the celebration served as a way to thank the youngsters for their ongoing contributions, including feeding, cleaning, and comforting rescued animals.

Story 2
South Africa has successfully implanted its first AVEIR VR Leadless Pacemaker a tiny device smaller than a AAA battery at Netcare Unitas Hospital.
The minimally invasive procedure performed by Dr Jean Vorster and Dr Jane Moses places the pacemaker directly in the heart’s lower chamber without the need for leads or a chest scar.
The device monitors heart activity and provide pacing while reducing infection risks and improving patient comfort.
Doctors say this microtechnology is a major step forward in treating heart rhythm disorders and opens the door to future innovations including dual chamber pacing for more natural heart function.
