The Smile Foundation celebrated the strength, courage and compassion of women at its annual Women’s Day breakfast at Inanda Club yesterday. The theme “Rooted in Strength,” brought together supporters, healthcare professionals and community partners to honour women. These women make a difference in the lives of families and children receiving life-changing reconstructive surgery.

Young aspiring musicians and creatives gained valuable insight into the world of music at the Jazz for Young People Workshop, hosted by the National School of the Arts.
The workshop gave learners the opportunity to learn from award-winning artist Msaki, who shared her experience and encouraged them to think about their futures in the creative industry. Each participant received six creative reflection cards to help them pursue careers in the arts. Msaki praised the learners for their enthusiasm and thoughtful ideas.

26 Climbs for Children

South African ultra-endurance runner Thembinkosi Sojola is taking on an extraordinary challenge to help vulnerable children and families.The record-holding trail runner is climbing George Peak in the Outeniqua Mountains 26 times. This is a gruelling challenge equivalent to three times the height of Mount Everest. The incredible feat is being undertaken in support of George Child and Family Welfare, which provides vulnerable children with stable, safe and nurturing care. Sojola, who holds the South African Backyard Ultra record of 55 laps covering 365km, is once again pushing his physical limits.
