90-year-old Caspar Greeff has challenged the conventional view of retirement by graduating from the University of Johannesburg with a Bachelor of Commerce in Accountancy.

Greeff's achievement is a testament to the success of UJ’s online BCom Accountancy programme, which was launched to broaden access to quality education.

The graduate's impressive academic record includes a BSc in Mathematics and Mathematical Statistics.

The Deputy Head of the Department of Accounting, Professor Marelize Malan says Greeff's story "reinforces the value of lifelong learning and the importance of creating inclusive academic opportunities.

Eight-Year-Old Atarah Goodheart wins a spot in the Real Madrid Educational Football Programme

Eight-year-old Atarah Goodheart, a Grade 2 learner at Jupiter Primary School in Ocean View in Cape Town, received a R45,000 sponsorship cheque to join the Real Madrid Foundation Educational Football Programme through Generation Schools.

Atarah, who has been playing football for the past two years with the Rising Stars Football Club, was handed the cheque during a youth-focused touch rugby exhibition match at the Western Province Cricket Club.
The event placed a spotlight on education, sport and development.

The sponsorship was made possible through Kensio House and former Proteas cricketer Steven Palframan.

The launch honours the entrepreneurial journey of Ms Lesetja Mukwevho, who holds a 60% stake in the enterprise she co-founded with her husband, Mr Matodzi Mukwevho.

The achievement represents a significant step toward inclusive growth, gender equality and transformation in South Africa's tourism sector.

The Minister says the Atrium Boutique Hotel showcases the power of women-led businesses and the strength of blended funding models to unlock opportunity where it matters most.
