Johannesburg’s Main Street will be closed to traffic this Sunday, allowing pedestrians, cyclists and skaters to move freely through the CBD.
The event, organised by Jozi My Jozi, will feature zones for art, music, cycling and children’s activities, with volunteers, JMPD and EMS on hand to ensure safety.
The initiative aims to give residents and visitors the opportunity to explore the city centre in a car-free environment, supporting local businesses and encouraging community engagement.

South Coast Hospital Team Performs Skull Free Brain Surgery First

A specialist team at Shelly Beach Hospital has achieved the South Coast’s first minimally invasive pituitary tumour removal.
Neurosurgeon Dr Yandisa Nxakama and ENT surgeon Dr Lungelwa Sigonya removed the tumour through the patient’s nose, avoiding the need to open the skull and leaving no external scarring.
The hospital says the breakthrough gives KZN South Coast patients access to advanced brain surgery closer to home with less trauma and faster recovery

WSAR Rescues Hikers Across Western Cape Over Easter Weekend

Western Cape Wilderness Search And Rescue teams had a busy Easter weekend, responding to four separate incidents across the Peninsula and Jonkershoek trails.
Crews rescued a 63-year-old woman at Cape Point, four young hikers stuck after dark in Jonkershoek, and a dehydrated 32-year-old hiker on Table Mountain using rope systems and a drone.
A 31-year-old visitor from the United Kingdom also became lost but was safely guided down by rescuers.
All hikers received timely assistance thanks to the coordination of WSAR volunteers, SANParks rangers, EMS paramedics and support teams.
