13-year-old raises R103,000 in 700km rally

Thirteen-year-old Sophie-Mae Hein from Johannesburg completed the 700-kilometre Muddy Face Botswana rally, raising over R103,000 for Team Zonke.
Despite limited driving experience, she navigated rough terrain and long stages, even managing a damaged tyre to reach the finish line.
Her fundraising will provide equipment and training for children in alternative care, helping them build confidence and a sense of belonging.
Sophie-Mae’s determination and generosity highlight the positive impact young people can make in their communities.
