The Smile Foundation, together with Adcock Ingram, has helped a six year old girl receive reconstructive surgery after a traumatic dog attack.
Kwandokuhle Kumalo suffered severe head injuries and significant hair loss, which affected her confidence and led to bullying at school.
Doctors at Charlotte Maxeke Johannesburg Academic Hospital inserted a tissue expander to create healthy, hair bearing skin for further reconstruction.
The support is helping Kwandokuhle recover and regain the confidence to return to school.

South Africans are taking advantage of SanParks’ annual Free National Parks Week, visiting parks across the country to enjoy nature and see some of their favourite wildlife.
The 21st annual initiative runs from September 7 to 13, giving South Africans free access to participating national parks.
SanParks says more than 100,000 South Africans visited national parks during the initiative last year.
Visitors to Kruger National Park say they are enjoying the wildlife and believe the initiative is important because it gives South Africans a chance to experience nature

Young volunteers from Joburg South have helped feed 200 children during a community outreach initiative at the Wits University Volunteers Centre.
The youth prepared and served nutritious meals on September 1, with vegetables donated by Alberton LewenSentrum Gemeente helping to make the initiative possible.
The outreach was organised by the Sharing Kindness Foundation, which praised the young volunteers for giving their time to support children in need.
The foundation says the initiative showed how young people can make a positive difference in their communities.
