School shoe request leads to wider support

A request for school shoes has led to a much larger donation for a foster family in Northriding.
Beanies for Beings was approached for shoes for a 13 year old girl, but the charity learned that her foster mother was also caring for a 12 month old boy.
The foster mother works part time as an office cleaner and had opened her home to both children, despite having limited resources.
The charity then put together clothing, toys, toiletries and groceries for all three family members.

Sinesipho Dambile wins Diamond League silver

South African sprinter Sinesipho Dambile has won silver in the men’s 200 metres at the Diamond League Final in Brussels.
The 24 year old clocked 19.89 seconds to secure South Africa’s only podium finish at the two day event.
Dambile had entered the final as the top 200 metre athlete in the Diamond League standings and continued his strong season by finishing under 20 seconds once again.
The medal adds to his 2026 Commonwealth Games gold, making it another major achievement for the Eastern Cape born sprinter.

Joburg ranks among world’s top nightlife cities

Johannesburg has been named the seventh best city in the world for nightlife by Time Out, placing ahead of cities including Amsterdam, Madrid, Seoul and Hong Kong.
The ranking was based on feedback from more than 24,000 people worldwide, including the affordability of nightlife and how easily people can find a sense of community.
Joburg scored 80% for connection and community, while 66% of locals rated its nightlife as affordable.
