Traxtion has hosted its third annual Future of Rail is Woman event in Rosslyn, introducing young women to career opportunities in South Africa’s rail industry.
High school learners took part in a Rail Fair, applying their STEM knowledge to real-world rail challenges.
Amandasig Secondary School took first place in the competition.
The programme also connected learners with women working in engineering, technology and logistics, while mentors helped them explore career options.

JOMBA! Contemporary Dance Experience is heading to Johannesburg following its season in Durban.
The Centre for Creative Arts will present a four-night season at The Market Theatre, featuring contemporary dance from South Africa, Africa and Europe.
The festival is in its fourth year of partnership with The Market Theatre.
Assistant Curator, Thobile Maphanga says the Johannesburg programme will give audiences an opportunity to see local and international contemporary dance performances:

Maphosa Centre Grows Food, Jobs

A community centre in Maphosa village, Limpopo, is using farming to support vulnerable children while creating jobs and producing food.
The Maphosa Drop-in Centre has created 17 permanent jobs and has been allocated five hectares of land to expand its vegetable production.
A partnership supported by the National Development Agency provided one-point-three million rand for irrigation, boreholes, water storage and other farming infrastructure.
The centre supports 68 children and is also helping households affected by food insecurity.
