FNB Art Joburg returns in triumph

Johannesburg's premier art fair, FNB Art Joburg, made a triumphant return to the Sandton Convention Centre, marking its 18th consecutive year as Africa's longest-running contemporary art event.
The fair, which kicked off with a media preview last Thursday, celebrated the vibrancy and diversity of African creativity.
This year's edition was divided into seven curated sections, each offering a unique perspective on contemporary art.
Gallery HUB presented carefully curated works from top galleries across Africa and beyond, while Gallery LAB showcased emerging galleries and hybrid spaces with experimental ideas and new business models.

Priority is given to sectors such as agriculture, manufacturing, medical, construction, and creative industries.
Applications must be submitted by 19 September 2025 via the DSBD portal.

Angola builds first oil refinery since independence

Angola has built its first oil refinery 50 years after gaining independence.
The refinery will start with 30-thousand barrels per day and reach 60-thousand barrels per day later.
This refinery is Angola's first new facility of its kind in decades and aims to reduce the country's heavy reliance on imported fuel, increase local supply and allow exports.
Oil remains the backbone of Angola’s economy, accounting for the majority of government revenue and foreign exchange earnings.
