Sasol New Signatures Exhibition on Display at Pretoria Art Museum

The 2025 Sasol New Signatures Visual Arts exhibition is currently running at the Pretoria Art Museum in Arcadia, showcasing 106 finalists chosen from over 900 entries nationwide.
This year’s overall winner is Juandré van Eck from Nelson Mandela University, who received R100 000 and the chance to host a solo exhibition next year for his ceramic piece Cycles of the Mind.
Other notable finalists include Viola Greyling, Sello Letswalo, Wisani Manyisi, Spesihle Hlatswayo, and Njabulo Molombo, with some works purchased for the Sasol Art Collection.
The exhibition runs until 2 November and is also available online through the Sasol New Signatures Virtual Gallery, giving art lovers a chance to explore South Africa’s top emerging visual talent.

Tyla Wins Second Afrobeats Award at MTV VMAs

South African superstar Tyla has once again shone on the global stage, winning the Best Afrobeats award at the 2025 MTV Video Music Awards in New York.
She wowed the red carpet in a vintage Chanel dress from the 90s before scooping her second Moonman in the category.
This year’s win was for her hit single Push 2 Start, following her historic victory with Water in 2024.
Tyla triumphed over fellow stars Tems, Burna Boy, Rema and Wizkid, cementing her place as one of Africa’s biggest musical exports.

Boy with Cerebral Palsy Beams on Ice in England Thanks to Stranger’s Kind Gesture

A heartwarming moment was captured at Nottingham’s National Ice Centre in England when 10-year-old Bleu Greenwood, who has severe cerebral palsy, was taken for a spin on the ice in his wheelchair by a kind stranger.
Bleu, who relies on ventilation and has spent six months this year on life support, lit up with joy as the hockey player guided him safely across the rink.
His mother, Rielle, described the moment as “special,” highlighting the importance of inclusion and seeing her son laugh and enjoy activities just like other children.
