The Absa Foundation has supported the development of a new playground at Orange Babies Montessori Preschool in President Park, Midrand, with support from Good Morning Angels.
The upgraded space includes artificial grass, a jungle gym, a rubberised play area, paving and hopscotch markings.
The playground gives learners more room for outdoor activities, while supporting play-based learning and the development of physical and social skills.

Durban Tortoise Admiral Celebrates 122 Years

Admiral, the Aldabra giant tortoise at Durban’s Mitchell Park Zoo, is celebrating his 122nd birthday.
Weighing around 250 kilograms, Admiral has been a resident of the zoo for more than a century and is considered the oldest known tortoise in South Africa.
During his remarkable lifetime, he has welcomed famous visitors including Queen Elizabeth and former president Nelson Mandela.
His species is known for its exceptional longevity, with Aldabra giant tortoises capable of living for more than 150 years. *

Babylonstoren Named Among World’s Best Hotels

Babylonstoren in Franschhoek has been ranked the 26th-best hotel in the world in Condé Nast Traveler’s 2026 Readers’ Choice Awards.
The ranking is based on votes from nearly 800,000 travellers, with readers praising the farm’s gardens, Cape Dutch heritage and farm-to-table dining.
The 1,070-hectare property has more than 300 edible and medicinal plants in its formal garden, with seasonal produce also shaping its menus.
Babylonstoren has now featured in the Readers’ Choice Awards in 2018 and every year from 2020 to 2026.
