Midrand SPCA Calls on Community to Support Charity Golf Day
Story 1
The Midrand SPCA is inviting the community to its annual Charity Golf Day at Kyalami Country Club on November 12.
The event raises funds to rescue, feed, and rehome vulnerable animals, covering veterinary care, shelter maintenance, and emergency rescues.
Now a key fixture on the local fundraising calendar, the day brings together businesses, animal lovers, and community members to support the SPCA’s mission.
Organisers aim to make this year’s event the biggest yet, with 18 holes of golf, networking opportunities, sponsor exposure, and additional fundraising activities.
Every swing and act of generosity helps give animals a second chance, and the SPCA is encouraging residents and businesses to participate or sponsor a hole.

Renewables Overtake Coal in Global Electricity for the First Time
Story 3
Renewable energy has overtaken coal as the world’s leading source of electricity in the first half of this year. Strong growth in solar and wind met all of the extra electricity demand, even driving a slight decline in coal and gas use.
China and other developing countries led the charge, adding more clean energy than the rest of the world combined. India also increased solar and wind capacity while reducing reliance on fossil fuels.
Solar is now the largest source of new electricity globally, with most of it in lower-income countries benefiting from rapidly falling costs.
Africa and Asia are seeing record growth in solar, creating opportunities for affordable and reliable electricity. This marks a crucial turning point in the global shift towards clean power
