Johannesburg Water and Wits University are launching a new borehole system to provide water to informal settlements in the city.
The pilot project has identified 9-informal areas that will benefit from the initiative, including parts of Region-G such as Lenasia and Soweto.
The utility says the joint effort is in response to recurrent water issues experienced by communities across Johannesburg.

A new community-driven art initiative, Arts on the Move, has been launched in Noordwyk, Midrand offering a vibrant space for residents of all ages to explore their artistic side.
The hub is open every Saturday from 9am to 2pm, providing a supportive environment where participants can discover the joys of visual expression.
The program is designed to promote creativity, confidence, and self-expression, making it an ideal platform for both children and adults to explore their artistic talents.
The project, founded by passionate visual arts teacher Meshack Mashathi, focuses on hands-on learning, where participants are guided by experienced instructors to develop their skills and artistic voice.

Cape Town will host the Beach Pro Tour at Camps Bay Beach from 22-26 October.
