SA hockey star Thati Zulu takes on global Wings for Life World Run
Story 2
South African hockey player Thati Zulu is stepping away from the turf as she prepares to compete in the Wings for Life World Run, a global event supporting spinal cord injury research.
Zulu, a Red Bull athlete, says the challenge has required a shift from hockey’s high intensity style to longer endurance training, as participants race against a moving Catcher Car that gradually eliminates runners.
She says the event stands out because it is not only about performance, but also about running for a global cause alongside thousands of participants starting at the same time around the world.
Zulu adds that she has focused on endurance, strength and recovery as she prepares for the race taking place this weekend.
