Discovery Pothole Patrol Repairs Over 343,000 Potholes in Johannesburg
Story 1
A Johannesburg road safety initiative has repaired more than 343,000 potholes over the past five years, helping improve road conditions across the city.
The Discovery Pothole Patrol programme, launched in 2021 in partnership with the City of Johannesburg and the Johannesburg Roads Agency, uses dedicated repair teams working daily across the metro.
The initiative has also been supported by thousands of residents who report road damage through a mobile app, helping teams target problem areas more quickly.
Officials say the project has contributed to safer and more reliable roads while encouraging collaboration between the public and private sector in maintaining infrastructure.
