Gautrain Celebrates 16 Years of Service

The Gautrain marks 16 years since its first trip from Sandton to OR Tambo International Airport on 8 June 2010.
The rail system has carried more than 200 million passengers and employs about 1 200 staff.
The Gautrain Management Agency has launched the KlevaMova product, offering a 50% fare discount for qualifying low-income earners, pensioners, and learners under 25.
The agency says it plans to expand the rail network to more areas in Gauteng, including Soweto, Fourways, Lanseria, and Mamelodi.

Lorato Trok wins Pan-African literacy honour

The honour recognises her more than 20 years of work promoting reading, mother-tongue education and children’s literature across South Africa and the continent.
Trok is the Executive Director of the Nal’ibali Trust, which runs programmes that encourage reading in homes, schools and communities.
The organisation says her work supports both learning and wellbeing by improving children’s access to books and storytelling.
