Wits University welcomed over 400 top Grade 11 learners from 57 schools for the Wits Integrated Experience tackling Johannesburg’s water crisis. The learners explored solutions across five faculties—Science, Engineering, Humanities, Health, and Commerce—while gaining exposure to university life. The University of Johannesburg held its first-ever Orange Impact Couture Fashion Show, themed “Where Strategy Meets Art,” at the Johannesburg Business School. Organised by Human Capital Management and FADA, the event showcased 27 garments made from recycled materials, aligning with UJ’s Strategy 2035 goals of sustainability and societal impact. The UJ Library designs won top honours. The show highlighted creativity, ethical fashion, and collaboration, with performances by the UJ Choir and KB Motsilanyane, marking a memorable celebration of innovation and style.

1,000 mobile trolley libraries donated through 2025 Road to Literacy campaign

Avbob, in partnership with Oxford University Press Southern Africa, has donated 1,000 mobile trolley libraries to primary schools and educational NPOs through the 2025 Road to Literacy campaign. Each trolley, valued at R57,000, contains 500 books in all 11 official languages, supporting literacy and numeracy in line with the CAPS curriculum.
With over 500,000 books distributed, the initiative addresses foundational learning challenges and celebrates South Africa’s cultural and linguistic diversity, aiming to uplift underserved communities and foster lifelong learning.
