Kyalami Corner Midrand Striders Half-Marathon Set for a Bigger Return on August 31

The Midrand Striders Running Club is excited to announce the return of its popular half-marathon, now rebranded as the Kyalami Corner Midrand Striders Half-Marathon, taking place on August 31.
Building on last year’s success with 1,800 runners, the club aims to attract over 2,500 participants this time, offering 21.1 km, 10 km, and 5 km race options.
A portion of the proceeds will help underprivileged runners access gear, entry fees, and training support.
The club also celebrates a 97% finish rate at the recent Comrades Marathon and promises race T-shirts at cost price and increased prize money to boost the experience

Home Affairs Extends Weekday Hours to Help with ID Applications During School Holidays

Home Affairs offices across South Africa will remain open until 6pm on weekdays until 21 July to assist people, especially pupils, applying for or collecting IDs during the school holidays.
Spokesperson Siya Qoza said the two-hour extension aims to ease queues and provide more time for applicants.
Appointments can be booked online before visiting, and large offices now have dedicated counters for smart ID and passport collections where space allows.
Those waiting three weeks or longer for their IDs are encouraged to check with their local offices to see if their cards are ready.

Businessman Partners with UJ to Champion African Storytelling

KwaZulu-Natal businessman Manzini Zungu has teamed up with the University of Johannesburg to nurture African storytelling through creative student projects.
Known for his success in retail, Zungu is now focused on cultural preservation and creative activism, partnering with UJ’s Faculty of Humanities to develop Afrocentric narratives.
The collaboration includes literature initiatives based on his 2021 Netflix film uShaka Inkosi Yamakhosi and aims to inspire young storytellers with a strong African voice.
Through his foundation, Zungu is also uplifting rural communities and promoting local heritage on a global stage.
