KwaZulu-Natal businessman Manzini Zungu has teamed up with the University of Johannesburg to nurture African storytelling through creative student projects.
Known for his success in retail, Zungu is now focused on cultural preservation and creative activism, partnering with UJ’s Faculty of Humanities to develop Afrocentric narratives.
The collaboration includes literature initiatives based on his 2021 Netflix film uShaka Inkosi Yamakhosi and aims to inspire young storytellers with a strong African voice.
Through his foundation, Zungu is also uplifting rural communities and promoting local heritage on a global stage.

Since founding Woman I’ve Got You in 2020, the 35-year-old has hosted nine empowerment events, mentored girls, and helped women heal from trauma and start businesses.
The idea was born during the Covid-19 pandemic, as Kopolo found strength in purpose after the heartbreaking loss of her mother.
Despite funding hurdles, her work continues to spark hope — proving that when women come together, healing and transformation follow

Muti-Space Foundation Empowers Alexandra Youth with Skills and Business Support

The Muti-Space Foundation hosted a Youth Month event at Alexandra Museum on June 28, sponsored by the National Youth Development Agency (NYDA), aimed at empowering young people to participate in the economy.
Event director Kenny Hlaise highlighted the challenges youth face, including over 60% unemployment for ages 15 to 24, worsened by Covid-19’s impact.
Hlaise urged youth to start businesses and use available NYDA support, while the event offered vital information on business registration and funding to informal traders.
Growing up in Alexandra himself, Hlaise said youth empowerment is a community responsibility and pledged to keep bringing such opportunities to the township.
