More than 500,000 rand has been raised to support the family of David Sejobe, a MultiChoice security officer who tragically died after being hit by a vehicle while cycling to work last week. A BackaBuddy campaign, launched six days ago by his colleague Sandra Radebe and supported by co-workers and the community, has far exceeded its initial20,000 rand target. Sejobe was famous for the welcoming wave and radiant smile he offered to everyone passing by, greeting colleagues, visitors, and pedestrians with genuine joy. He was also widely admired for his resilience, commuting daily by bicycle from his home in Orange Farm to Randburg.

Uber Eats and the Gauteng Economic Development Department are supporting township businesses in Soweto with a 250 million rand investment. The programme provides entrepreneurs in Orlando and Protea with onboarding support, in-app marketing, delivery bikes, and training to expand their reach and create jobs. Kota King owner Rhulani Shibambo has grown his business through the initiative, earning Merchant of the Year honours.
