Tsakane Winter Games celebrate youth sport

The Tsakane Community Games Winter Championships recently concluded after weeks of exciting soccer and netball competition featuring young players from across the community.
The tournament which started on the 4th of July has been ongoing during the school holidays with games taking place at the Tsakane Stadium, the Phela Ndaba Ground and Letsie Primary School sports grounds.
The tournament featured soccer and netball competitions across multiple age groups, with U11, U13, U15 and U17 soccer divisions, as well as U13, U15 and senior netball competitions.
Tournament organiser, Thuso Mtsweni, says the purpose of the tournament was to create an environment where young athletes can explore and express their talent and to take children off the streets during the school holidays.
The teams received medals and cups in recognition of their dedication and hard work.

The Kearsney College Choir from KwaZulu-Natal has won top honours at the 2026 World Choir Festival in Hong Kong.
The choir emerged as the festival's most awarded ensemble with 5 major awards, after competing against more than 70 choirs from 19 countries.
The choir claimed gold in both the Youth Choir and Show Choir categories and claimed the coveted Jury Prize that was awarded for the choir's overall musical excellence and artistic merit.
The choir's achievement has been celebrated as a proud moment for South African choral music.
The five-day event featured international competitions across 14 categories, interactive workshops, masterclasses and Concerts at major venues such as the Hong Kong Cultural Centre and City Hall.
