AfTA 2026 conference set for Tshwane University of Technology in July

The African Theatre Association conference, AfTA 2026, will take place at the Tshwane University of Technology’s Arts Campus in July.
The event has selected 75 submissions from 92 presenters across 18 countries, including researchers from ten South African universities.
The City of Tshwane is a strategic partner, with opening and closing ceremonies at the South African State Theatre and Freedom Park.
Selected papers and performances will be published in the African Performance Review and a special issue of the South African Theatre Journal.
Registration is open for non-presenters, with early bird rates available until 30 April.

Fintr launches award-winning board game FinMaster nationwide

South African financial education firm Fintr has rolled out its award-winning board game, FinMaster, in Exclusive Books stores across the country.
The game uses local themes such as load-shedding and cabinet changes to teach players about saving, investing and growing wealth.
Originally built as a pizza-box prototype by two industrial engineers, it has since earned international recognition.
Co-founder and CEO Elijah Djan says the game helps young people and families develop stronger money habits through play.

Garden Route named world’s top road trip in global study

A new global study by Autotrader has ranked South Africa’s Garden Route the best road trip in the world for driving conditions.
The research set out to understand what really makes a road trip feel effortless and enjoyable behind the wheel.
Senior meteorologist Jim R N Dale, who partnered with Autotrader on the study, pointed out that visibility matters most for driving, followed by road surface, clear days, wind speed and ground temperature.

SASCOC boosts funding for disabled sports from R60m to R100m

The South African Sports Confederation and Olympic Committee has increased funding to the South African Sports Association for the Physically Disabled from R60 million to R100 million for the next four years.
The funding will support training programmes, equipment purchases, and competition access for athletes with disabilities across South Africa.
SASCOC President Barry Hendricks says the association will use the funds to expand participation and prepare athletes for national and international events:
