Gauteng launches forum to strengthen child protection

The Gauteng Department of Social Development has launched a new forum to bring child protection organisations together and improve services for children across the province.
The Provincial Designated Child Protection Organisation Forum will create a platform for organisations to share information, address challenges, improve training and coordinate their efforts.
The department says the forum will also help strengthen referral systems and ensure children and families receive the right support.
Gauteng has 91 designated child protection organisations, and the forum aims to build stronger partnerships between them and government.

A petrol attendant has been praised for helping a mother get to her children after her car broke down while she was on her way to fetch them from school.
Laine stopped at a petrol station for help, but when the car could not be repaired quickly, Clement Nciki offered her his own car so she could continue her journey.
She managed to collect her children on time and return them home, before Clement also helped arrange a tow truck and find someone to repair her vehicle.

Miss Earth South Africa plants 125 trees in Johannesburg

Miss Earth South Africa has planted 125 trees across three community spaces in Johannesburg as part of Arbor Week, which runs from 1 to 7 September.
Learners from Grade R to Grade Seven took part in tree planting activities at Mondeor Primary School and Forest Hill Primary School.
Five trees were also planted at Emma Broscius Preschool to introduce young children to nature.
The initiative aims to create greener community spaces while encouraging young people to care for the environment.
