Emperors Palace launches ECD qualification programme

Emperors Palace has launched a programme to provide fully funded qualifications for 25 early childhood development practitioners from Katlehong, Thokoza and Vosloorus.
The practitioners will spend a year working towards an NQF Level 5 Higher Certificate in Early Childhood Care and Education.
They will also receive study materials, mentoring and academic support.
The programme forms part of the Peermont Children’s Trust’s nearly five million rand commitment to improve early childhood development standards across Ekurhuleni.

Free State tests future artisans

More than 100 Free State learners have put their practical skills to the test in a provincial competition aimed at developing the country’s future artisans.
A total of 103 learners and 63 teachers competed in trades including construction, automotive, woodwork, plumbing, electrical work and welding.
The competition helps strengthen practical skills while identifying top talent, with the provincial winners set to represent the Free State at national level.
The province is also expanding technical education, with hundreds of learners already taking part in its annual skills competition.

Miss South Africa Qhawekazi Mazaleni brought reading to life for children in Alexandra, helping launch National Book Week at the Third Avenue Children’s Library.
She read the South African story Yes Yanga with the children before they took part in a game of cricket based on the story.
