Yellow Level 2 warning issued for 5 provinces

The South African Weather Service has issued a yellow level 2 weather alert for severe thunderstorms across Gauteng, KwaZulu-Natal, Mpumlanga, Limpopo and the Free State.
The thunderstorms are expected to persist throughout the day bringing damaging winds and excessive lightning that may cause disruptions to transport and society.
Residents in low-lying areas are advised to take extra precaution due to potential localised flooding.
Forecaster Lehlohonolo Thobela says the warning applies especially for the eastern parts of Gauteng into the southern parts of Limpopo as well as Mpumalanga and the western interior of KwaZulu-Natal and the Free State.
