Premier Panyaza Lesufi has announced that the Gauteng Government has reached the final stages of appointing a preferred bidder for the long-awaited expansion of the Gautrain.
The expansion is expected to bring the rapid rail network to Soweto, Mamelodi, and the Fourways, Roodepoort corridor, significantly extending its reach into areas that were previously underserved by the system.

Johannesburg's waste management agency, Pikitup, has boosted its fleet with 12 new compactor trucks and 41 caged trucks to enhance waste collection and recycling in the city.
City of Johannesburg MMC for Environment and Infrastructure Services, Jack Sekwaila, says the new vehicles will help enhance bulk and commercial waste services and support the metro’s Smart City agenda.
Sekwaila stressed that the new fleet will not only improve service delivery but also generate revenue and support recycling cooperatives through new waste-sorting facilities.
