President Cyril Ramaphosa says Eskom's return to profit after 8 years shows that persistence and partnerships pay off.
The power utility reported a 16-billion-rand after-tax profit for the year ending March 2025, its first profit in 8-years.
The return to profit is largely due to a 12.74% tariff increase, debt relief, and a 14% reduction in primary energy costs
In his weekly newsletter, President Ramaphosa says Eskom’s improved financial position will enable it to invest in critical infrastructure and maintenance under its Generation Recovery Plan.

The Hospital Association of South Africa has called for collaboration between the private sector and government to achieve universal healthcare access in the country.
HASA is hosting a 2-day annual conference in Johannesburg under the theme "Innovation and the Future of Healthcare Provision."
Talks at the conference are also centered around efficient leadership and the use of technology in transforming the healthcare sector.

The South African Police Service led by the Acting Minister of Police, Firoz Cachalia will today launch its safer festive season operations in Mangaung in the Free State.
SAPS National Commissioner, General Fannie Masemola will present and handover the SAPS safer festive operation plan to the Minister.
The launch of the safer festive season operations will be preceded by the opening of a police station in Bloemfontein.
