Zimbabwe’s Inflation Expected to Ease as Gold and Currency Strengthen
Story 3
Zimbabwe’s annual inflation rate is expected to fall sharply by the end of 2025, helped by a stable local currency and strong gold prices.
The Confederation of Zimbabwe Industries reports that inflation measured in the Zimbabwe Gold, or ZiG, dropped to 32.7% in October from 82.7% in September.
The organisation forecasts that it could reach as low as 15% to 20% by December. Analysts say the ZiG, partly backed by gold, has maintained stability in official markets, while rising gold production continues to boost confidence.
A lasting drop in inflation would mark a major step toward rebuilding trust in Zimbabwe’s economy.
