JSE-listed Advtech expands higher education footprint in Durban
Story 3
JSE-listed Advtech has secured 10 hectares of land in Durban for the development of a new university mega-campus.
The group, whose brands include Crawford International, Trinityhouse and the recently launched Emeris, says the development will further strengthen its higher education footprint.
The first phase will accommodate around 8,000 students and include a purpose-built 500-bed student residence.
A second phase, scheduled for completion in 2035, will expand capacity to about 10,500 students, with student accommodation increasing by a further 500 beds.
Construction is expected to begin in 2027, with the campus set to open in 2029.
The KwaZulu-Natal development follows two major tertiary education investments by the group, including the Emeris/Vega Sandton Campus, which opened in Johannesburg in February 2026.
Advtech says continued investment in higher education remains vital as South Africa confronts high youth unemployment and growing demand for workplace-ready graduates.
