Bedfordview Book Drive Goes National

A literacy project launched by the Saheti Pre-Primary School and Playschool PTA in Bedfordview is set to grow across South Africa next year after a successful pilot.
The Khula Book Collective donated 1,859 new and gently used children's books to Carter Primary School and Emfundisweni Primary School in Alexandra.
Working with Breadline Africa, the books have been added to school libraries to give more learners access to reading and encourage a love of books.
More schools and parent associations will be invited to join the initiative in 2027.

CrossFit Event Raises R40 000 for Charity

CrossFit Rising Oak has raised more than R40 000 for Rainbows and Smiles through its annual six-hour Enduro Charity Event.
Athletes, families, sponsors and supporters worked together to complete the endurance challenge and raise funds for children and families affected by childhood cancer.
The donation was handed over at Broadacres Shopping Centre on 4 July.
The event combined fitness with community fundraising to support families facing the challenges of childhood cancer.

Young people in Pienaar, outside Mbombela, have hosted their first Economic Empowerment Indaba to help tackle unemployment and other challenges facing local youth.
The event brought together government and private sector representatives to share information on job opportunities, skills development and entrepreneurship.
Organiser, Innocent Mibi hopes the initiative will help young people overcome poverty, crime and substance abuse by connecting them with support and opportunities:
