With 1.3 billion individuals aged 15-24 globally the report emphasizes that unlocking the potential of youth in agriculture can have a significant impact on the global economy.
According to the "The Status of Youth in Agrifood Systems," report bridging the employment gap for youth in agriculture could increase the global economy by 1.4%, translating to approximately 1.5 trillion dollars.
UN FAO Rural Transformation and Gender Equality Division's Lauren Phillips says by empowering youth in agriculture food security, nutrition, and economic opportunities cold be improved:
