Fuel prices have dropped, with petrol down 66 cents per litre and diesel R1.50 cents cheaper per litre. Prices for illuminating paraffin and LPG have also been reduced.The South African Petroleum Retailers Association is advising motorists to plan trips carefully, keep vehicles well-maintained for better fuel efficiency, and stay updated on future price changes.
SAPRA national chairperson Henry van der Merwe says that lower prices will help ease financial pressure on households and transport operators.

A Fourways resident’s online post sparked an outpouring of support after her gardener’s bicycle, his main transport, needed urgent repairs.Rene Theron asked a local group for affordable repair options, but instead of advice, she received overwhelming help. Theron said Cycle Lab reached out and offered to fix her gardener’s bike. Expecting minor repairs, Theron was amazed at the result and said the bike look almost new.

Hanri Pretorius, a matriculant from Hoërskool Noordheuwel, recently represented the West Rand at the UIPM World Championships in Mossel Bay. She secured a silver medal capping off an exceptional season. Hanri has already earned her junior Protea colours twice and is also an elite track and field and cross-country athlete. Her outstanding achievements have earned her a full scholarship to Bradley University in Illinois, USA, where she will study Child Life Sciences this year.
