JMPD Targets Randburg CBD

A targeted enforcement campaign is underway along Bram Fischer Drive, as the Metropolitan Police Department work to remove illegal traders, clear pavements, and restore safe pedestrian movement. The JMPD has responded to rising complaints about illegal trading and growing congestion in the CBD. Director Eldred Fortein, visited the area last week to oversee the operation. He said the team had received several reports from residents and businesses that parts of Randburg were becoming hotspots for by-law violations. Residents and businesses are encouraged to keep reporting by-law violations, to help enforcement teams maintain safe, orderly, and accessible public spaces in Randburg.

Survé Philanthropies hosted a Women’s High Tea last week bringing together beneficiaries from three local shelters. Influential speakers marked 16 Days of Activism for No Violence Against Women and Children. The event, held at the Castle of Good Hope, was designed as a day of reflection, inspiration, and pampering for women from Ihata Shelter, Sisters Incorporated, and St Anne’s. The programme featured a series of talks from prominent women, each focusing on a different facet of the female experience.

A South African player has just won the international collegiate challenge! Pieter Pienaar, a student of the University of Pretoria has won the 2025 collegiate World Champion. The 2025 Microsoft Excel World Championship and collegiate Challenge hosted its finals in Las Vegas this past week. Competitors from all over the world battled it out to become one of this year’s top Excel eSports athletes. Players receive messy data sets and story-driven scenarios for which they must build solutions that are accurate.
