Young Innovator Represents SA In Sweden

Seventeen-year-old Sikhulile Nkosi from Mpumalanga is preparing to represent South Africa at the Stockholm Junior Water Prize in Sweden later this month.
The Grade 11 learner at Sitintile Secondary School in Mbombela earned the opportunity after winning the South African Youth Water Prize for developing an innovative coating that reduces microplastic and chemical contamination in drinking water.
South Africans are being encouraged to support Nkosi by voting for the People's Choice Award before voting closes on 15 August.

Eden Park Gets New Sports Facility

Eden Park Secondary School in Alberton has opened a new multipurpose sports court, while seven nearby schools received sports kits as part of a youth sports programme.
The facility, handed over on July 31, supports netball, volleyball, basketball, hockey, soccer and wheelchair sports.
The initiative aims to increase access to sporting facilities for learners and communities in the area.

Six Projects Bring Innovation To eXobho

The Department of Science, Technology and Innovation has launched six community projects in eXobho in KwaZulu-Natal’s Harry Gwala District Municipality.
The projects aim to use technology to address rural challenges, including livestock theft.
One of the initiatives is an animal-tagging system designed to help farmers track and protect their livestock.
The launch follows an oversight visit by Minister Blade Nzimande as part of the District Development Model:

LIV Golf Gets Lifeline Beyond 2026

LIV Golf has secured a lead investor to fund the league beyond the 2026 season after Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund ended its financial backing.
CEO Scott O'Neil announced the agreement at the LIV Golf event in New Jersey, saying the league is also negotiating with more than a dozen potential minority investors.
LIV is seeking up to $300 million to finance the 2027 season and plans to complete the investment deal in September.
The new ownership model will give players a majority equity stake in the league.
