Cabinet approves South Africa’s bid to host 2027 F1 Grand Prix

Cabinet has approved the Sports Department’s request to submit a bid to host the 2027 Formula One Grand Prix at the Kyalami racecourse in 2027.

The racecourse has received confirmation from the F1 Federation to upgrade its circuit to Grade 1 status, which is the highest international standard required to host F1 races.
The F1 Grand Prix was last hosted in South Africa in 1993.

SANDF honours outstanding members at Bloemfontein Medal Parade

The Chief of the SANDF, General Rudzani Maphwanya, presented the medals to 164 long-serving members who have distinguished themselves with loyal, undisrupted service to the country and its people.

MTN Invests R200 Million to boost Western Cape network coverage

MTN South Africa has announced a R200 million investment, to strengthen mobile network coverage and reliability across the Western Cape, as part of its ongoing national infrastructure implementation.

The operator says the investment will go towards building new base stations and upgrading more than 600 existing sites in the province.

The company reports that its LTE network currently covers over 98% of the Western Cape’s population, while its 5G network is expanding to additional communities.

Durban designer Luyanda Majozi redefines SA streetwear

Twenty-five-year-old Durban-based fashion designer, Luyanda Majozi, is redefining South African streetwear through his brand, Enigmatic Cotton.

Majozi represented South Africa at the 2024 GISU Global Start-Up Competition in China, where he secured second place in the Start-Up category.

The designer says sustainability is a cornerstone of Enigmatic Cotton, through upcycling and using locally sourced materials.
