Mildred Baker finished the 42-kilometre race in seven hours and three minutes, after taking up running in her late seventies.
She initially joined a walking and fitness programme for older adults in 2023 to stay active, before progressing to running and completing her first half-marathon last year.
Baker says she hopes her journey will encourage other older people to set new goals and challenge themselves.
She was also part of New York Road Runners' Team Inspire, which featured 26 runners selected for their inspiring personal journeys. *
