The Ngaphandle Kokukholwa Akathokozi organisation led a ‘Breathing Better Together’ campaign in Diepkloof, bringing residents together to tackle air pollution and promote cleaner streets.
Community youth and elder groups, alongside partners including the City of Johannesburg, Breathe Cities, Green-In-Action, Pikitup, and DFFE, took part in a clean-up around the Multipurpose Hall.
Educational sessions followed, focusing on recycling, waste management, and the link between pollution and health.
Project coordinator Velaphi Sipho Mazomba said the initiative showed how communities, government, and civil society can work together to protect the environment and future generations.
